GSM measures fabric mass per area, not finished hoodie weight or quality on its own. Compare construction, fiber blend, face texture and finishing alongside the target GSM.
400 GSM or 500 GSM?
What to decide
A 400 GSM hoodie and a 500 GSM hoodie brief specify fabric mass, not a complete product. At either weight, compare blend, thickness and drape. Send the intended structure and weight as sourcing targets; availability must be confirmed.
How to approve it
Review the finished fabric submission for weight, face texture and drape rather than approving from the GSM number alone.
Brushed back or loopback
What to decide
Brushed fleece gives a different interior feel from loopback French terry. Interior finish, fiber blend and knitting affect warmth, bulk and how the garment layers.
How to approve it
Check both sides of the actual fabric and agree care instructions and relevant wash tests.
Seam bulk, hood and rib
What to decide
Heavy fabric accumulates at pocket corners, hood seams and cuffs. A stiff rib or heavy double-layer hood can change balance even when the body fits.
How to approve it
Inspect seam junctions and wear the complete hoodie; measure body and sleeves after the agreed wash cycle.

Questions before sampling and ordering
Does a higher GSM automatically mean a better hoodie?
No. GSM describes mass per area. Yarn, fiber blend, knitting, finishing and construction also affect durability and comfort. Select the weight for your silhouette and climate, then approve the actual fabric and garment.
How should shrinkage be specified for heavy fleece?
Agree the care procedure, measurement points and acceptable dimensional change before testing. Compare before-and-after measurements on the same sample; a generic claim such as pre-shrunk does not replace a documented method.
Can I use the same pattern with heavier fleece?
Use the existing pattern as a starting point, not automatic approval. Thickness, drape and shrinkage can change fit, hood balance and seam bulk. Review a garment made in the intended fleece and finish.
What are your MOQ, sample time and bulk lead time?
MOQ is 100 pcs. Samples take 7 days. Bulk production lead time depends on order quantity.
